G4S is Chicago's only free, all-girls science program providing female STEM instructors in state-of-the-art laboratories.
We offer our six-week Saturday STEM Academy four times per year: Winter (January–February), Spring (April–May), Summer (July–August), and Fall (October–November).

Science
During the winter sessions, we focus on the systematic study of the natural and physical world through observation and experimentation.

Technology
During the spring technology sessions, we teach the practical application of scientific knowledge to solve problems, accomplish tasks, and extend human capabilities.

Engineering
During the engineering sessions, we explore the creative application of science and mathematics to design and build practical solutions to problems.
SUMMER
Mathematics
During the fall sessions, we teach the study of quantities, including their relationships, operations, and measurements, expressed through numbers and symbols.

We fulfill our mission in several ways that have proven successful in retaining girls' interest in STEM subjects:
Mentorships
to introduce girls to women pioneers in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics, as well as professionals and college students who can offer guidance and a listening ear.
Field Trips
to museums, zoos, businesses, nature preserves, and other sites to supplement and enhance laboratory assignments.
Science Exploration
through conducting experiments and studying in small groups, girls develop self-confidence and build collegial networks.
Scholarships
to select 12th graders who have completed at least 12 weeks of the G4S program and plan to pursue undergraduate studies in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
