Welcome Letter

On March 19, 2014 Girls 4 Science (G4S), Chicago's only all girls science initiative, will host its 3rd Annual Women's History Month reception at the Union League Club in Chicago. The reception will feature nationally recognized women in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) on March 19, 2014. Jackie Lomax founded Girls 4 Science in 2008 to recognize the accomplishments of women in STEM and to provide hands on enrichment programs for girls 10-18 years old. G4S accomplishes its mission by offering free six-week Saturday Science Academy courses at one of Chicago's City Colleges. To date more than 300 girls have participated in G4S programs. G4S believes in the following principles related to science education:

Membership - The lack of money will not hinder the study of science for participants.

Science Exploration - Participants will have the opportunity to learn collectively with each other in a non-competitive environment.

Mentorships - The girls will be exposed to women pioneers in science and technology.

Field Trips - The girls will expand their study outside of the lab with themed field trips.

Scholarships - Participants will have the opportunity to apply for college scholarships to further their study at a 2 or 4-year college.
